Frontier Builders
OpenAI builds the tools. They create the future.

Project Overview
Frontier Builders turned OpenAI's role into something more human. Not just the company building frontier models, but the company backing the people using them to create what comes next.
The AI category was loud with capability lists and demo reels. Every brand was trying to look like the future; none were looking at the people building it. So we made a platform that answers a better question — not what can AI do, but who is doing something with it.
Volume 01 is a portrait series of founders and engineers building companies that didn't exist before, photographed in black and white on seamless, full-body, direct gaze. Closer to Avedon than to any tech-trade campaign. Props arrive only from the subject's own world. The system stays as quiet as the photography: a name, one line about what they're building, and OpenAI's attribution well below the headline.
The campaign gave a new generation of AI-native founders a public stage, brought their stories into the streets of San Francisco, and connected the physical, social, and editorial experience into one message.
